🌳🏡 The RV Guardians Build a Treehouse 🏡🌳

One beautiful afternoon, Chad and Agaricus Bisporus were sitting outside the RV.

They had sticks.

They had cardboard.

They had string.

And they had absolutely no idea what they were building.

Chad placed one stick against another.

“Pirate ship.”

Agaricus looked at it.

“That is four sticks.”

“Pirate ship.”

Agaricus shrugged.

“Okay.”

Just then…

Echo came sprinting past.

She jumped onto a rock…

Leaped onto the fence…

Ran across the top…

And jumped onto the lowest branch of the giant tree beside the RV.

Chad looked up.

Agaricus looked up.

Then they looked at each other.

“…Treehouse.”

“Treehouse.”

The pirate ship was immediately abandoned.

🌳 The Idea

Within minutes, everyone had gathered beneath the tree.

Mom looked upward.

It was a huge tree.

Thick branches stretched in every direction.

Its leaves created a giant patch of shade over the RV.

“You want to build a treehouse?”

Mom asked.

“YES!”

shouted the kittens.

Echo climbed even higher.

“We could make platforms!”

Che-Ni-Mon looked up nervously.

“…How high?”

Lily remained underneath the tree.

She examined the shade.

The breeze.

The grass.

“I think the ground is perfectly fine.”

Dragon Claw lowered his enormous head beside everyone.

“I can help.”

Chad gasped.

“DRAGON CONSTRUCTION!”

Mom laughed.

“Okay.”

She looked at the RV.

Then at the enormous tree.

And smiled.

“You know…”

“The RV has always been our home.”

The kittens nodded.

“But that doesn’t mean our home can’t grow a little.”

🔨 Construction Begins

Mom drew the plans.

Dragon Claw carried the heavy wood.

The cats…

Well…

The cats mostly made construction significantly more difficult.

Chad kept stealing the measuring tape.

“Thirty-seven!”

“Thirty-seven what?”

asked Agaricus.

“I don’t know!”

Echo believed ladders were unnecessary.

Every time Mom turned around…

Echo was already on another branch.

“Echo!”

“What?”

“How did you even get up there?!”

Echo looked down.

“…Cat.”

Fair enough.

Che-Ni-Mon had one very important job.

She guarded the supplies.

Nobody asked her to.

She simply decided somebody needed to.

“Three nails…”

“Two ropes…”

“One hammer…”

Dragon Claw reached toward the hammer.

Che-Ni-Mon gasped.

“WHO ARE YOU?!”

Dragon Claw blinked.

“…Dragon Claw?”

“Oh.”

She moved aside.

“You can have it.”

😴 Lily’s Contribution

Meanwhile…

Lily had done absolutely nothing.

Mom eventually walked over.

“Lily…”

Lily opened one eye.

“We’re building this for everybody.”

“I know.”

“Would you like to help?”

Lily thought carefully.

Very carefully.

“No.”

Mom laughed.

“At least tell me what you want in it.”

That changed things.

Lily stood.

Walked toward the plans.

Placed one paw on an empty platform.

“Hammock.”

She moved her paw.

“Sun.”

Another spot.

“Shade.”

Then she looked directly at Mom.

“And no designated kitten jumping area within three feet.”

Chad whispered to Agaricus.

“…We’ll make it four.”

“Deal.”

🏡 It Gets Bigger…

One platform became two.

Two became three.

Then…

Everyone started having ideas.

“We need a lookout tower!”

said Chad.

“A reading corner!”

said Agaricus.

“Climbing wall.”

said Echo.

“A safe room.”

said Che-Ni-Mon.

Everyone looked at her.

“…For emergencies.”

“What emergencies?”

asked Chad.

Che-Ni-Mon looked toward the garden.

“…Thunder.”

Thunder barked happily from far away.

Che-Ni-Mon immediately moved closer to Mom.

Lily pointed toward the highest peaceful branch.

“Hammock.”

“We know.”

said everyone.

🐉 Dragon Claw’s Addition

Eventually, Dragon Claw noticed something.

“There isn’t anywhere for me.”

Everyone stopped.

The kittens’ ears dropped.

“Oh…”

Dragon Claw was far too big for the treehouse.

Even the strongest branch couldn’t hold him.

But Mom smiled.

“I thought about that.”

She pointed toward one enormous platform being built around the bottom of the tree.

It extended outward toward the RV.

Dragon Claw tilted his head.

Mom explained.

“You won’t fit inside the treehouse…”

“…so we’ll bring the treehouse to you.”

Dragon Claw’s eyes lit up.

They built a huge balcony where Dragon Claw could rest his head.

The cats could sit beside him.

He could watch everyone playing above.

And when everyone gathered there…

He was part of the treehouse too.

Dragon Claw smiled.

“I love it.”

✨ The RV Guardians Headquarters

Several days later…

It was finished.

Everyone stood outside staring upward.

There were rope bridges between branches.

A kitten lookout tower.

A little reading nook for Agaricus.

A climbing course that Echo immediately completed in seventeen seconds.

A cozy covered corner filled with Che-Ni-Mon’s blankets.

A pirate flag Chad had personally designed.

A giant balcony for Dragon Claw.

And at the very top…

Away from everyone…

Swaying gently beneath the leaves…

Was Lily’s hammock.

Lily climbed into it.

Turned around twice.

Curled up.

Everyone waited.

“…Well?”

asked Mom.

Lily closed her eyes.

“…Acceptable.”

Everyone cheered.

🌅 Two Homes That Were Really One

That evening, Mom sat on Dragon Claw’s balcony.

Chad and Agaricus were in the lookout tower.

Echo rested on one of the highest branches.

Che-Ni-Mon was wrapped in a blanket below them.

Lily gently swung in her hammock.

Dragon Claw rested his enormous head beside Mom.

The RV sat just beneath them.

Warm lights glowed through its windows.

Chad looked down.

“So…”

“Do we live in the treehouse now?”

Mom smiled.

“Nope.”

Agaricus tilted her head.

“Then what’s the treehouse?”

Mom thought for a moment.

“The RV is our home.”

“It’s where we eat.”

“Where we sleep.”

“Where we cuddle.”

“And whenever Dragon Claw takes us on an adventure…”

“…it comes with us.”

She looked around the treehouse.

“But this…”

“…this can be where our adventures begin.”

The kittens smiled.

Echo looked toward the horizon.

“So it’s our headquarters.”

Mom laughed.

“I guess it is.”

Chad immediately stood.

“THE RV GUARDIANS HEADQUARTERS!”

Che-Ni-Mon smiled.

“I like that.”

Dragon Claw nodded.

“So do I.”

From somewhere high above them came Lily’s sleepy voice.

“…Headquarters needs quiet hours.”

Everyone laughed.

🌙 That Night…

Eventually, Mom called everyone down.

“Come on, babies.”

“Bedtime.”

The kittens climbed down.

Che-Ni-Mon gathered her blankets.

Echo jumped directly from the tree onto the RV roof before Mom could tell her not to.

Lily reluctantly abandoned her hammock.

Dragon Claw curled up beside the RV.

Before going inside…

Chad and Agaricus looked back.

Moonlight shined through the branches.

Their little pirate flag moved gently in the breeze.

Tomorrow…

It could be a castle.

A pirate fortress.

A secret base.

A One Piece shipyard.

A clubhouse.

Or simply somewhere to sit together and watch the sunset.

But tonight…

They went back where they had always belonged.

Inside their little RV.

Together.
