🏡🐾 A Visit to Grandma’s House 🐾🏡
One bright Saturday morning, Mom walked into the RV with a big smile.
“Who’s ready to visit Grandma?”
Chad jumped straight into the air.
“ME!”
Agaricus practically bounced across the floor.
“I love Grandma’s house!”
Echo stretched happily.
“I wonder if Vegeta wants to race.”
Che-Ni-Mon looked up nervously.
“…Grandma’s nice…”
“…but what about Tío and Tía?”
“What if they don’t like me?”
Mom gently scratched behind Che-Ni-Mon’s ears.
“They’re going to love you.”
Lily looked up from her pillow.
“…I’m coming.”
“…Mostly because I heard Grandma has comfy couches.”
Dragon Claw smiled through the window.
“I’ll fly the RV!”
Soon they were off.
Dragon Claw gently carried the RV through the bright blue sky until Grandma’s little house came into view.
“We’re here!”
cheered Chad.
The RV had barely stopped before the kittens were already at the door.
Grandma opened it with the biggest smile.
“My babies!”
She gave every cat a gentle hug.
Even Lily accepted one.
Though she’d never admit she enjoyed it.
Che-Ni-Mon shyly peeked around Mom’s leg.
Grandma smiled warmly.
“And hello to you too, sweetheart.”
Che-Ni-Mon smiled back.
Maybe this wasn’t so scary after all.
Then…
A giant orange cat slowly walked into the room.
He was enormous.
Round.
Fluffy.
And weighed nearly seventeen pounds.
“Mufasa!”
shouted the kittens.
Mufasa blinked lazily.
“Hello, little ones.”
Before he could finish…
The kittens climbed all over him.
“Bite!”
laughed Chad.
“Pounce!”
laughed Agaricus.
Tiny paws.
Tiny claws.
Tiny playful bites.
Mufasa didn’t seem to mind one bit.
He simply rolled onto his side.
“If this makes you happy…”
he purred,
“…then carry on.”
The kittens giggled.
“He doesn’t even move!”
“I think he’s made of pillows.”
said Agaricus.
Meanwhile…
A little black cat quietly appeared around the corner.
Vegeta.
His bright eyes sparkled mischievously.
Echo smiled.
“You wanna race?”
Vegeta immediately took off.
ZOOM!
Echo chased after him.
The two raced through the house.
Around chairs.
Across rugs.
Under tables.
Back around again.
Che-Ni-Mon watched.
“…Should I?”
Vegeta gently trotted back.
Touched Che-Ni-Mon’s nose with his own.
Then slowly trotted away.
Looking back every few steps.
As if inviting her.
Che-Ni-Mon smiled.
“…Okay.”
Soon she was running too.
Not quite as fast as Echo.
But faster than she’d ever run before.
Vegeta took turns chasing Echo…
Then chasing Che-Ni-Mon…
Always making sure everyone got to play.
Echo laughed louder than anyone.
Che-Ni-Mon forgot to be scared.
For the first time all day…
She wasn’t thinking about meeting Tío or Tía.
She was just having fun.
Before long…
Grandma called everyone for snacks.
The kittens sat beside Mufasa.
Who was still as calm as ever.
“I don’t know how you do it.”
said Chad.
Mufasa smiled.
“I was little once too.”
The kittens looked at one another.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“And someday…”
he purred,
“…you’ll be the older cats.”
The kittens couldn’t imagine it.
The afternoon slipped by much too quickly.
Eventually…
Mom looked at the clock.
“I think it’s time to head home.”
The kittens’ ears drooped.
“So soon?”
asked Chad.
“Can we stay a little longer?”
asked Agaricus.
Mom smiled.
“I know you’re having fun.”
“But Grandma will still be here next time.”
“And so will Mufasa.”
“And Vegeta.”
The kittens looked at one another.
“…Promise?”
Mom nodded.
“I promise.”
The kittens happily hugged Grandma goodbye.
Echo bumped paws with Vegeta.
Che-Ni-Mon quietly thanked him for playing with her.
Vegeta simply smiled.
“Next time…”
he said,
“…I’ll let you catch me.”
Che-Ni-Mon giggled.
Mufasa gave each kitten one gentle nuzzle.
“Travel safely.”
Dragon Claw gently lifted the RV into the evening sky.
As Grandma’s house grew smaller below them…
Chad smiled.
“I can’t wait to come back.”
“So can I.”
said Agaricus.
Echo yawned.
“I’m definitely winning the next race.”
Che-Ni-Mon curled into her blanket.
“…I think Tío and Tía were pretty nice.”
Lily stretched across the couch.
“…Grandma’s couches were acceptable.”
Everyone laughed.
Far below…
Grandma stood outside waving until the RV disappeared into the sunset.
And inside the RV…
Five happy cats, one gentle dragon, and one loving Mom were already looking forward…
To the next visit.
