🦖🐾 The Day a Dinosaur Visited the RV 🐾🦖
One bright afternoon, the RV Guardians were enjoying a picnic outside.
Mom had packed little tuna sandwiches.
Dragon Claw was lying beside the RV, happily soaking up the sunshine.
Chad and Agaricus were playing pirates.
Echo was practicing her Three-Claw Style on a fallen log.
Che-Ni-Mon sat safely on her favorite blanket.

Napping.
Everything was peaceful.

Everyone froze.

The ground gently shook.
Chad blinked.
“…Did the earth just hiccup?”

A giant shadow slowly stretched across the picnic blanket.
Everyone looked up.
Standing beside the trees…

A dinosaur.
It was enormous.
Green.
With a long tail.
Tiny arms.
And huge feet.
Nobody moved.
Che-Ni-Mon squeaked.
“…It’s a dinosaur…”
Echo slowly whispered,
“…That’s definitely not a really big lizard.”
Even Dragon Claw stood up.
The dinosaur looked at everyone…
Tilted its head…
“…Hello.”
it said politely.
The RV Guardians blinked.
“…It talks?”
asked Chad.
The dinosaur smiled.
“Of course.”
“I’ve been practicing.”
Everyone laughed a little.
The scary feeling began to disappear.
Mom stepped forward with a warm smile.
“Hi there.”
“I’m Mom.”
The dinosaur bowed his head.
“My name is Rex.”
“I saw your RV from the hills.”
“…I’ve never met cats before.”
Chad immediately walked closer.
“You’ve never met kittens?!”
“No.”
“But I hoped we could be friends.”
Agaricus smiled.
“We’d like that.”
Soon…
Everyone was introducing themselves.
Echo climbed onto Rex’s back.
“You’re really tall!”
“I hear that a lot.”
Rex chuckled.
Che-Ni-Mon slowly walked over.
“…Can I…”
“…touch your tail?”
“Of course.”
She gently placed one paw on it.
“…It’s warm.”
Lily opened one sleepy eye.
“…A dinosaur.”
She yawned.
“…Neat.”
Then closed her eye again.
🎾 Dinosaur Games
Before long…
The kittens invited Rex to play.
They played tag.
Rex took giant careful steps so nobody got squished.
They played hide-and-seek.
Although…
It was very difficult for a dinosaur to hide.
“I can still see your tail!”
laughed Chad.
“…I was trying.”
said Rex.
Everyone laughed.
🐉 Dragon vs. Dinosaur!
Echo suddenly had an idea.
“What if…”
“…Dragon Claw and Rex had a wrestling match?”
The kittens gasped.
Dragon Claw smiled.
“Only if it’s friendly.”
Rex nodded.
“Friendly wrestling is the best kind.”
The kittens quickly formed a little circle.
Mom became the referee.
“Ready…”
“Set…”
“GO!”
Dragon Claw gently nudged Rex.
Rex nudged back.
They playfully pushed one another across the grass.
Neither one was trying to win.
They were trying to make the other laugh.
Dragon Claw wrapped his tail around Rex’s.
Rex carefully leaned against Dragon Claw.
The two giant friends rolled across the field together.
ROLL!
TUMBLE!
FLOP!
The kittens cheered louder than ever.
“GO DRAGON CLAW!”
shouted Chad.
“YOU CAN DO IT, REX!”
cheered Agaricus.
Echo pumped both paws into the air.
“BEST MATCH EVER!”
Che-Ni-Mon waved her blanket like a little flag.
“L-Let’s go!”
Even Lily sat up to watch.
“…This is surprisingly entertaining.”
Finally…
Dragon Claw and Rex both rolled onto their backs.
Panting.
Laughing.
“I think…”
Dragon Claw smiled,
“…it’s a tie.”
Rex nodded.
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
The kittens ran over and gave both giant friends huge hugs.
Well…
As huge as kitten hugs could be.
🌅 Time to Go
As the sun began to set…
Rex looked toward the distant hills.
“I should head home.”
The kittens’ ears drooped.
“So soon?”
asked Chad.
“I wish you could stay.”
said Agaricus.
Rex smiled kindly.
“I’ll always remember today.”
Dragon Claw gently bumped noses with Rex.
“I hope we meet again.”
“I’m sure we will.”
said Rex.
Mom waved.
“You’re always welcome to visit the RV.”
Rex’s eyes lit up.
“…Really?”
“Really.”
With one last happy roar…
(Not a scary roar…
A friendly one.)
“ROOOAAAR!”
Rex disappeared over the hills.
The RV Guardians watched until he was out of sight.
Chad smiled.
“I never thought I’d make friends with a dinosaur.”
Agaricus nodded.
“And I never thought dinosaurs could be so nice.”
Dragon Claw looked toward the hills with a smile.
“I think…”
“…I just found a new wrestling buddy.”
Everyone laughed.
And somewhere beyond the hills…
A happy dinosaur smiled too…
Already looking forward to his next visit to the little RV filled with the kindest family he’d ever met.
