πŸ•οΈπŸŒ² The RV Guardians Go Camping πŸŒ²πŸ•οΈ

One bright morning, Dragon Claw arrived beside the RV with a huge smile.

His wings stretched wide.

His tail swished happily.

And the whole RV shook gently when he landed.

β€œWho’s ready for a camping trip?”

Chad and Agaricus Bisporus immediately exploded with excitement.

β€œUS!”

Echo popped her head up.

β€œCamping?”

Che-Ni-Mon peeked from under her blanket.

β€œβ€¦Is camping dangerous?”

Lily stretched from her nap.

β€œIs there a quiet place?”

Mom smiled.

β€œWe’re going to Cloudcroft.”

Dragon Claw carefully lifted the RV into the sky.

Over the desert.

Over the hills.

Over the tall green trees.

Until finally…

They reached a peaceful campsite surrounded by forest.

The air smelled fresh.

The trees whispered in the wind.

Birds sang overhead.

And nearby, a quiet lake sparkled in the sunlight.

The cats helped set up camp.

Chad tried to set up one tent.

Agaricus tried to read the instructions.

Echo finished hers without reading anything.

Che-Ni-Mon asked if tents were bear-proof.

Lily found the softest patch of shade.

Soon the campsite was ready.

Chad pointed toward the lake.

β€œNow we fish!”

Agaricus nodded.

β€œYes. We catch fish.”

Echo’s eyes lit up.

β€œFish.”

Che-Ni-Mon whispered,

β€œβ€¦Fish?”

The cats began marching toward the lake.

Then Mom stepped in front of them.

β€œNope.”

Everyone froze.

β€œNo fishing.”

Chad gasped.

β€œNo fishing?”

Mom shook her head.

β€œWe are not hurting other animals.”

The cats looked toward the lake.

Then back at Mom.

β€œBut fish snacks…”

Chad whispered.

β€œWe brought snacks,” Mom said gently.

The cats sighed.

Very dramatically.

For a moment, camping felt ruined.

Then Agaricus lifted her head.

β€œWhat if we hike instead?”

Chad perked up.

β€œLike explorers?”

β€œExactly.”

Echo smiled.

β€œI like explorers.”

Che-Ni-Mon looked at the trees.

β€œI have concerns.”

Lily yawned.

β€œNaturally.”

The RV Guardians followed the trail through the tall pines.

Over little rocks.

Past wildflowers.

Across tiny wooden bridges.

Chad led proudly.

Agaricus checked the trail to make sure nobody got lost.

Echo climbed every rock she could find.

Che-Ni-Mon jumped every time a squirrel rustled the bushes.

Lily walked behind everyone, taking her time.

Mom stayed behind at the campsite.

β€œYou kittens have fun,” she called.

β€œI’ll have everything ready when you get back.”

Higher and higher they climbed.

Until finally…

They reached the highest point in Cloudcroft.

The whole forest stretched below them.

The lake sparkled in the afternoon sun.

The mountains rolled into the distance.

Clouds floated almost close enough to touch.

β€œWhoa…”

whispered Chad.

β€œIt’s beautiful.”

said Agaricus.

Even Lily nodded.

β€œβ€¦Worth the walk.”

The group rested for a few minutes before starting back down the trail.

About halfway down…

They passed a strange-looking green plant growing beside the trail.

Echo sniffed it.

β€œHuh.”

Che-Ni-Mon sniffed it too.

β€œIt smells funny.”

Lily lazily brushed against it with her tail as she walked by.

The kittens hardly noticed.

They simply kept walking.

A little farther down the trail…

Something changed.

Echo suddenly sprinted up a fallen log.

Then jumped off.

Then sprinted back again.

β€œWoooo!”

Che-Ni-Mon began giggling at absolutely everything.

Even leaves.

β€œThat leaf waved at me!”

she laughed.

Lily slowly rolled onto her back in the middle of the trail.

She looked up at the trees.

β€œβ€¦The clouds are… very cloud-shaped today.”

Chad stopped walking.

β€œβ€¦Echo?”

No answer.

Echo was chasing her own tail around a pine tree.

β€œAgaricus…”

β€œβ€¦are they okay?”

Agaricus watched for a moment.

β€œI…”

β€œβ€¦don’t know.”

Che-Ni-Mon was now trying to introduce herself to a pinecone.

β€œHello.”

β€œI’m Che-Ni-Mon.”

The pinecone remained silent.

β€œI like your attitude.”

she nodded.

The kittens looked at one another.

β€œThis is…”

said Chad.

β€œβ€¦different.”

finished Agaricus.

The two watched their older sisters laugh, play, and roll through the forest like carefree little kittens.

Neither of them understood what had happened.

But…

Everyone was smiling.

Nobody was hurt.

And somehow…

The hike had become even more fun.

Chad grinned.

β€œI don’t know what’s going on…”

β€œβ€¦but I like it.”

Agaricus laughed.

β€œMe too.”

So the kittens ran after their sisters.

Soon all five cats were hopping over logs…

Sliding down little hills…

Chasing leaves…

And laughing all the way back toward camp.

When they finally reached the campsite…

Mom looked up from preparing dinner.

She smiled.

Then she looked at Echo.

Who was trying to pounce on her own shadow.

Then Che-Ni-Mon.

Who was proudly carrying a stick she’d named β€œSteve.”

Then Lily.

Who was lying on her back watching the trees sway.

Mom immediately recognized the look.

β€œβ€¦Oh my.”

she laughed softly.

β€œYou three found catnip.”

Echo blinked happily.

β€œI found lots of things.”

Mom smiled.

β€œI can see that.”

She gently walked each of the older cats to their own tents.

β€œTime to relax for a little while.”

Echo happily curled into her blanket.

Che-Ni-Mon tucked β€œSteve” beside her before falling asleep.

Lily yawned.

β€œβ€¦Best hike ever.”

Outside the tents, Chad looked at Agaricus.

β€œWhat happened?”

Agaricus shrugged.

β€œI still don’t know.”

The two kittens smiled.

Whatever it was…

It made the walk home unforgettable.

And that was good enough for them.
